Today in Iceland, we are celebrating a special day dedicated to meat. Salted meat and a pea soup. This day is called Sprengidagur (Shrove Tuesday), and its origins are from catholic traditions. Because after this day, fasting was something they did.

In Japanese tradition, the 29th of each month is celebrated as “Meat Day” due to a wordplay on the phrase niku no hi (肉の日). Many shops and restaurants typically offer special deals on meat on the 29th of each month.
