In this first interview, I speak with my father about the differences between a law-based society and an honor-based society. Iceland represents a law-based culture, while Japan exemplifies an honor-based one. We explore these concepts through a historical lens.

Geir Waage, my father, is a pastor emeritus who served in Reykholt, Borgarfjörður, from 1978 to 2020. He is a devoted history enthusiast who has shared his knowledge through numerous lectures for schoolchildren and history lovers in Reykholt. This village holds great significance in Iceland, as it was the home of Snorri Sturluson (1179–1241), the renowned author of The Edda and Heimskringla. Geir Waage is a living legend—traditional yet one of the most inquisitive people I know. Thank you for being part of my project; you bring depth and warmth to my videos.
